GREAT FALLS, MT (March 4, 2015) – Two Montana Farmers Union (MFU) members were selected to serve on the National Farmers Union (NFU) Next Generation Advisory Council (NGAC). The council will serve in an advisory capacity to NFU and provide feedback on current programs and outreach, as well as propose ideas for the future.
“I am pleased that Katie Bangs, from Inverness, and Jacob Fagan, from Brady, both have been chosen for the Council,” said MFU President Alan Merrill. “The next generation of farmers and ranchers, and Farmers Union members are crucial to maintaining an active, relevant and engaged advocacy organization such as MFU,” he said. “We have a growing membership in the 21-45 age group, and value their perspectives and involvement as we celebrate our 100th year and grow into the future,” said Merrill.
The Council will meet twice each year in person, with additional contact through social media groups and conference calls. It will present ideas for growing the organization, consider future program focus and marketing efforts and report on activities to the NFU board of directors.
The first council meeting will be at the NFU Convention in Wichita, Kansas, in Mach 2015; and the second will be at the NFU Fly-In in September 2015, in Washington, D.C.
Other appointed members include Chris Holman, Wisconsin; Kriss Marion, Wisconsin; Jennifer Klabunde, Minnesota; Anne Schwagerl, Minnesota; and Andrea Tidwell, Colorado.
