UW Extension offers four-session board training series in Cody

A board training series for new and experienced board members is being offered in March in Park County.

Tara Kuipers, a University of Wyoming Extension educator in the Northwest Area, will teach the four-session series titled “Leading With Excellence: Tools for Effective Boards” Wednesdays in Cody March 9, March 16, March 23 and March 30. All sessions are 6-8:30 p.m. in the Park County Courthouse, EOC meeting room.

“The series is designed to help individuals serving boards – whether public, private or nonprofit – to get more involved and become more effective leaders,” said Kuipers, a community development educator.

The series includes four sessions. Class one covers an overview of board roles and responsibilities, including setting direction, ensuring resources and offering oversight. Class Two covers effective meetings and ways to build and strengthen a board. Class three explores the role of board members in financial management and fundraising. Class four focuses on the board-building cycle, an approach to finding, orienting and utilizing new board members and strengthening a board overall.

The $50 per person fee and covers all classes in the four-session series. Pre-registration is required, as space for the series is limited. The fee includes class materials.
